There is upward pressure across all solvent prices as oil and feed stock prices increase. Oil prices breached the $100 level last week as political troubles in the Middle East escalated. March Propylene and Ethylene contract prices have increased by €80 and €60 respectively.

Price Increases in Propylene and Ethylene
January 2011 sees the start of the year with substantial increases in the cost of the main building blocks for the solvent industry, in Europe. Propylene has increased by Euro 110 per mt and Ethylene by Euro 105 per mt. This will surely result in increases in all solvent prices across Europe. Increases have also occurred in Asia and USA.
